February is known for a couple of things: cold weather, plush hearts and of course, Family Day. But Family Day doesn't have to be just a day. Since many of our clients have families with kids, we thought we’d put together a list of fun things to do with your family this February in Belleville, Quinte, Prince Edward County and the surrounding areas.
Hit the Slopes At Batawa Ski Resort
Batawa Ski Hill is located just a few minutes North of the 401 in Quinte West – and since there aren’t many hills in Southern Ontario, we’re actually pretty lucky to have this in our very backyard. At Batawa, you can ski, snowboard, winter hike or snowshoe – and you have access to rentals and lessons. For kids, the prices range from $9.25 to $21.00 depending on the age and which hills they will use. They also participate in a special program for kids in grades 4 & 5 that allows them to ski at no cost.
Top Gun Academy at the National Air Force Museum of Canada
This Family Day (February 20th), you can head to NAFMC for the Top Gun Academy Program! Admission rates are by donation, making it affordable for all families. Children get the opportunity to explore what it takes to be a pilot by taking part in activities that are inspired by Canadian Military Aerobatic Teams. They will get to take part in:
- The Snowbird Academy
- Red Knight Training Centre
- Sky Hawks Drop Zone
- Formation Flying Obstacle Course
- F-18 Paint Shop
- Scavenger Hunt

Take the Family Skating!
On Tuesdays at 10:00 am you can drop by Quinte Sports and Wellness Centre for a free skate session with your little ones. The program is drop-in so get there only as they only allow 50 skaters – to keep the rink uncrowded and allow young ones to learn.
Prince Edward County Community Centre also has family skating and it's free for children under twelve.
Visit the Tweed Winter Carnival
On February 17-19, 2023 head up to Tweed to visit the Tweed Winter Carnival! You'll find a ton of family-appropriate things to do and view including snowman-building competitions and a free bonfire and smores event at 7 pm on February 17. You can learn more here.
We always like to support our community by sharing fun events like this. Let us know if you have ideas for our next article!
