We Know Military Families

We know the hassle and the chaos. We know the stress and the need to make decisions quickly. Most of all, we know that simple and straightforward are your top priorities.

Authorized Military Relocation Experts

The Davies & Co. Real Estate Team has worked with dozens of military families moving into or out of Trenton. We have a completely systematized process that starts with a checklist of needs and wants with one of our team members – and finishes with you and your family happy and settled.

Information About HHT

A typical HHT, including travel time, is limited to seven days and six nights and includes expenses for return travel to/from the new location, accommodations, meals, child care, on-site mileage (if traveling by car), or rental car (if traveling by air). – Sourced, Canada

That means you have 7 days to find and secure a new home.

QUICK FACTS TO GET STARTED

  • If you’ve been posted for relocation, you are entitled to an HHT if you have not already secured accommodation at your destination. That means if you haven’t closed on your home, your accommodation is not secured.

  •  If you have applied for a PMQ, but have not been offered one yet – you get an HHT. Even if they say you’re high on the list – if you haven’t signed anything accepting a place, you are entitled to a HHT.

  • If you’ve already found a place, you are still entitled to a trip to inspect the accommodations and get a feel for the area – this is called DIT and it’s only 5 days and for one person.

  •  DITs are meant to give individuals time to inspect their accommodations, as well as make arrangements for things like schooling or medical file transfers.

Regardless if you are taking an HHT or a DIT, the process is the same.

If you’re new to this process, here’s how to obtain HHT Authorization & get started:

  1. Get authorization from your commanding officer. The form will be found in the documents section of Your Move Profile
  2. If you intend to drive, you can start your travel as soon as you’ve submitted your completed HHT application form to BGRS. If you intend to fly, BGRS will facilitate your travel by contacting the approved government service provider, HRG, who will provide you with your tickets via email.
  3. Review the allocated funds for your trip. The finances section of Your Move Profile will show you an estimated budget based on your profile and allow you to request an advance of funds before you leave.
  4.  Pick an appropriate time to conduct your HHT. If you’re planning to buy, we recommend going 60-90 days before your anticipated possession date, to allow appropriate time to settle on a closing date.
  5. Start working with a Realtor® well in advance of your departure. They can narrow down potential homes and make sure you’re focused and ready to roll on arrival.
