Brighton is known for a slower pace of life, which is why many retirees are choosing this area to call home. With its heritage main street and front porch Victorian flavour, Brighton is made up of wooded trees and rolling farmland on the outskirts, and a historic downtown core with quaint restaurants and charming boutique shops.
You’ll also find conveniences like No Frills, Home Hardware, Brighton Family Health Medical Clinic, Sobeys and of course, Tim Hortons. Brighton is also the gateway to Presqu’ile Provincial Park, known for lakeside camping, swimming, windsurfing, hiking and world-class birding.
New subdivisions include Hamilton Woods, Forest Hill, Orchard Gate, Tackaberry Ridge, and Hearth Stone Ridge. Brighton offers affordable quality built custom homes and a great lifestyle for nature lovers.
“When my husband retired, we decided it was time to get out of the GTA. Our kids and grandkids are in Whitby so we didn't want to move too far away -- so Brighton was a great choice. We get to kayak and fish and enjoy the water without being too far from my family."
-Jillian Hardy (client)
Downtown Brighton is home to less than 15,000 residents. It features charming local shops, a boutique Victorian downtown core, and quick access to Cobourg, Oshawa, Quinte West and Belleville. Brighton is well known for community events that happen all year round including Apple Fest, Ribfest and Winterfest. Right downtown you’ll find beautiful century homes, and towards the outskirts, all the newer subdivisions including Hamilton Woods, Forest Hill, Orchard Gate, and Tackaberry Ridge. Just north of downtown you’ll find Proctor Park Conservation, with beautiful walking trails through the forest.
Presq'uile Point covers the region of Presq'uile, found south of Brighton. The entire point is made up of Presqu'ile Provincial Park and the Lighthouse is a famous destination for travellers and out-of-towners. There are several beaches, parks and nature centres. It’s worth mentioning that the entire peninsula is protected, hence the incredible bird population and sightseeing.
Gosport is a community to the south end of Brighton, just 20 minutes south of the 401. Residents find all their conveniences within a 5 minute drive. Gosport is most famous for its marina, where sailors and boaters pass the summer coming and going. Notably, Presq'uile Provincial Park is its neighbour, where individuals come to see the wildlife found on the protected peninsula. The Whistling Duck Restaurant is found at the mouth of Presqu'ile, and a popular favourite among locals and out-of-towners. Several new subdivisions have been built in the past few years.
